In an effort to inform, educate and mitigate the spread of the Oriental Fruit Fly in backyard fruits and vegetables, Agriculture/Weights & Measures (AWM) staff attended the County Museum’s annual Arthropooluza event in Redlands on March 23-24 and Victor Valley on March 30, 2024, conducting outreach and providing materials regarding the current fruit fly quarantine in Redlands. Redlands is currently under a California Department of Food and Agriculture’s fruit fly quarantine and is affecting citrus in the area.

The event Arthropolooza: The Ultimate Bugfest, hosted by the County Museums, celebrates all things creepy, crawly and highlights arthropods in a family-friendly fun environment filled with displays, activities and food. AWM staff provided eventgoers with invasive insect displays and interactive games.
